On March 14, 2023, the Filecoin network marked a significant milestone by introducing the first programmable EVM on its virtual machine, elevating its programmability with smart contracts. This pivotal release not only solidifies Filecoin’s stature as an L1 but also propels the open data economy forward. Despite the successful fusion of “trusted computing + trusted storage,” the current valuation appears to undervalue Filecoin’s potential.

The Crucial Role of Filecoin

As a globally trusted and neutral decentralized storage network, Filecoin bestows robust digital ownership, enabling seamless information storage anytime, anywhere. Unlike Web 2.0, it stands as a cornerstone in the Web 3.0 puzzle, complementing its essential framework. Creative developers across the globe gain the ability to deploy applications and smart contracts on perpetually online, borderless computers, fostering accessible and distributed data storage.

Challenges and Trade-offs

In pursuit of these aspirations, Filecoin faces trade-offs, prioritizing specific blockchain attributes such as decentralized storage and data security. While this approach ensures trust and neutrality, it restricts the scalability of the current L1 layer. This trade-off impedes the realization of high-frequency trusted computing and maximizing data value.

Drawing Parallels with Ethereum’s Trajectory

Ethereum’s developmental trajectory holds poignant lessons for Filecoin. The rapid rise of Ethereum’s Layer 2 solutions like Optimistic Rollups (OP) and Arbitrum (ARB) attests to the urgency and importance of a robust Layer 2 network. These solutions effectively shattered Ethereum’s transactional limitations, ushering in enhanced efficiency, safety, and affordability. In this journey, Ethereum’s market value surged, propelling associated projects into the esteemed ranks of unicorns.

Empowering Filecoin through ZKAmoeba

This brings us to ZKAmoeba, the pioneering Layer2 network service strategically positioned atop the Filecoin ecosystem. At the heart of ZKAmoeba’s mission lies the scaling of Filecoin’s trusted computing capabilities while streamlining development processes and accelerating proof generation.

Harnessing ZK-Rollup

Leveraging ZK-Rollup, we amplify computing through off-chain transaction execution, aggregation, and proofing, while relying on Filecoin for data availability and validity proof verification.

ZKAmoeba comprises three vital components: ZK-EVM circuit, L2 nodes, and an L1 protocol for seamless protocol verification.

1. ZK-EVM Circuit:

Seamless Compatibility: ZKAmoeba executes EVM code without modifications. Developers effortlessly transition existing dApps or craft new Solidity code on ZKAmoeba, ensuring compatibility across the Filecoin ecosystem.

2. L2 Nodes:

Distributed Verification Network: ZKAmoeba’s nodes encompass service nodes (servers) and verifier nodes (provers), collaborating in a decentralized Layer2 verification network. This structure enhances data security and reliability, promoting widespread participation.

3. L1 Protocol:

Decentralized Collaboration: ZKAmoeba’s L1 protocol defines aggregation rules, participant criteria, and integrates smart contracts to facilitate data availability and ZK-SNARK proof verification. A captivating economic model fosters cooperation between community users, servers, and provers.

Our Vision

Rooted in the “Ameba” spirit of collaborative autonomy, ZKAmoeba envisions itself as a supportive tool for success. Our objective is to construct a neutral, open, trustworthy, and censorship-resistant ecosystem that promotes technological freedom and equal relationships. To bring this vision to fruition, ZKAmoeba embraces an open-source community centered around Filecoin.
